Earth Day Celebration at Lake Eola Park, Orlando 2016.

The Central Florida Earth Day event will be taking place in Orlando at Lake Eola park on Saturday 23rd April 2016. The festival held in this beautiful setting is in its 11th year. Exotic Car Festival at Celebration Florida 2016.

The City of Celebration will be busy this weekend April 14-17, 2016 with the Celebration Exotic Car Festival. Along the lakefront promenade will be a showcase of big name cars, racing cars, Hollywood movie cars, with celebrities etc. all on display for spectators and enthusiasts to view and get up close to.

This annual festival is a charity event raising money for children with life threatening medical conditions.

Solar Panel Farm at WDW in Mickey Mouse Shape.

Everybody is talking about the new solar panels farm built in the shape of Mickey Mouse head in Buena Vista Florida, near Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort. 

Built by Duke Energy the site covers an area of over 20 acres has nearly 50,000 solar panels and can be seen from space!

25th Anniversary of The Florida Film Festival.

Film lovers will be gathering in Maitland and Winter Park for the Florida Film Festival on April 8th to April 17th 2016. Now in its 25th year the festival will be showcasing around 170 films of Current, American Independent, and International styles. There will be celebrities, filmmakers and film lovers taking part in events, competitions, mingling and celebrating their art. Oh and movie watching!

The Florida Film Festival venue is about 20 minutes from Downtown Orlando. And about 55 minutes from Kissimmee.

Splash Mountain Ride, Thrilling, Popular and Wet! At WDW Florida.

I remember my first encounter on Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World Orlando. I had seen the drop and 'splash' from the view point on the bridge in Frontierland and I entered the ride with trepidation, being afraid of heights, but not wishing to disappoint my excited family. 

The journey through the story of Br'er Rabbit was fun and entertaining, setting an incredible scene as you ride along on the log flume with audio animatronics and songs from the Disney's 'Song of The South'. The build up to the excitement at the end was done very well, as we approached the 'drop' I held on tight, clenched every muscle in my body, took a deep breath and.........looked up outside to see the biggest brightest lovliest full moon I had ever seen, as I exclaimed "look at the moon" I yelled out with a mixture of dread and loveliness, there was a thrill and rush of excitement as we plummeted down for the invigorating  'Splash' that I will never forget. It was truly a Disney moment.

(The ride was equally as good when I went the second time without the moon!) 

The laughter and look on fellow passenger's faces as they compared how soaked they were was wonderful.

A Look at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. Orlando, Florida.

After writing a blog in 2012 about the building of The Art of Animation Resort. We finally visited and I was very impressed. Arriving in the dark gave an awesome view of the entrance decor and once inside the foyer was decorated with amazing animation sketches of Disney Pixar movie characters, the area was filled with bright artistry. The outside and pool areas were filled with themed figures, ornamentation and fun themes from the Disney Pixar Films.

Room and family suites are themed on 'The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, The Lion King, and Cars’.

There is a quick service restaurant area called Landscape of Flavors, again with great design artwork.

Plenty of activities for children including, pools, a playground, jog trail, video games arcade and movies under the stars.

It is a Value Resort, great for families to enjoy that all round magical Walt Disney World Vacation.

Coffee Break at Disney's Contemporary Resort WDW Florida.

The Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World Orlando is a huge complex an Ultra Modern designed building which is a Hotel, Convention centre. It has leisure areas, pools, several dining options and shops. Set by a lake with beaches and water sports found at the Sammy Duvall's Water Centre. 

There are spectacular views of the Magic Kingdom and the Walt Disney Monorail runs through the Tower. This is a very popular resort well worth a visit, we discovered a great little coffee shop called Contemporary Grounds for a quick relaxing coffee or smoothy and pastry before more Disney fun.

One of my favourite treats when we go to Orlando, is to visit a 'Wendy's'. This meal just fits so nicely into a busy scheduled vacation. Easy, quick, not too filling and very tasty.

Mardi Gras time at Universal Orlando Resort Florida.

Mardi Gras is underway at Universal Studios Orlando, on selected nights from February 6th to April 16th 2016, there will be live music from big named artists, a huge display of vibrant colour from the Universal Mardi Gras parade, street performers, beads, music, food and entertainment. 

After the concerts, Universal City Walk will carry on the party atmosphere in the clubs and bars for guests that are over 21, with a New Orleans taste in music and cuisine.

A Few Words on Storybook Circus, Magic Kingdom, WDW, Florida.

When entering the Storybook circus in fantasyland, you get an immediate sense of excitement and buzz of childhood memories, thrills, lively entertainment and vibrant sounds! Disney in my opinion have captured the scene very well. 

The Dumbo ride is a popular attraction here, as is Barnstormer a children's roller coaster featuring Goofy.  On a hot day there is a very welcome and fun water spray area, projecting water over squealing happy children (and adults!), called Casey Jr. Splash 'N' Soak Station in the theme of circus animals and Casey Jr..

There is a character meet and greet, Pete's Silly Sideshow where you can meet some of your favourite Big Top characters.        

Disney merchandise can be bought from the Big Top Souvenirs and candy floss and sweet treats from Big Top Treats. Fantasyland railway station is also situated in this part of the park.

Glimpses of Wildlife at Walt Disney World Resort Florida.

Walking around the Disney Resort Orlando can give you unexpected sightings of wildlife, I'm having difficulty in finding the name of this beautiful Heron/Crane/Egret we spotted when walking from the car park to Disney's Boardwalk Inn and Villas. 

Another delightful moment was of these ducks crossing the road.

On our recent visit to Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Florida, we came across a cute little corner coffee shop called The Writers Stop.

A quiet haven with a lovely atmosphere, where you can purchase coffee, delicious cakes, goodies and Disney souvenir mugs etc. also books from the book shelf. The decor is amazing and takes you back in time to a movie studios coffee shop way back. 

It's location is next to the Streets of America Backlot Area.

Refurbishments at the WDW Parks, for Trip Planning.

At the Walt Disney World Resort Orlando, refurbishments and updating rides etc. is high on the list for giving guests the best enjoyment in the Theme Parks, sometimes it can be a little frustrating if you find your favourite ride temporarily closed. Plan ahead for your vacation and you can check in advance for scheduled refurbishments.
